Without wishing to appear a bit smug, we’re going into the New Year with a bit of glory and a smile. :D
We are now Milton Keynes’ largest provider of serviced business premises, with a total of around 400,000 square feet of sought after offices and industrial units.
Not only that we have over 150 customers, who between them employ a thousand people. And we confidently expect that figure to be well exceeded as new units come on stream during the next few months and MK businesses continue to boom.
This has been no mean feat on our part, but it means we’re doing a lot that’s right, because we are gettng some really glowing testimonials from our customers, many of whom don’t mince their words!
They like our straight talking and dealing; not hiding costs and not over charging for many of the little things that keep businesses ticking, but which can be annoying to the point of distraction. We really believe that if our customers are happy, then they’ll be free to get on with their businesses, which in turn will expand. Happy result all round!
So a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone... and if you’re someone looking for new or upgraded premises, pop along for a look round. Even talk to existing occupants; we have absolutely nothing to hide but our glowing pride in running the finest serviced premises in Milton Keynes.

Residents in Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes and surrounding areas are being invited to a family fun day this weekend where they will have the opportunity to cheer on more than 100 people supporting a team that aims to secure a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
On Sunday, May 8, the new
Interchange Business Centre in Newport Pagnell will throw open its doors to the public who will also have the chance to look around the new facilities as well as witnessing the longest ever continuous Brazilian Jujitsu/ Mixed Martial Arts class.
Youngsters will also be able to play on bouncy castles and everyone is welcome to take part in a penalty shoot-out competition or join in the martial arts class for a sample session.
The event is being organised by
Bucks-Biz - the company behind Interchange Business Centre - in support of the record attempt by Ebe Ghansah of the
M1J14 Academy, which is based at the state-of-the-art centre.
All money raised on the day, including sponsorship of the record will be donated to the Keech Hospice, which care for children with life-limiting illnesses in the Milton Keynes area.
Dominic Muscat, a Director at Bucks-Biz, commented: “The academy was one of the first businesses to move onto the site and we are delighted to be able to help Ebe with his fund raising efforts.
“We have organised plenty of fun activities on the day, as well as refreshments, and there will also be the chance to meet representatives of other business that operate from our facilities in the area.”
The record attempt is expected to raise several thousand pounds for the charity and Ebe says 15 of his students have volunteered to train for around 30 hours for a place in the record books – with 70 or 80 more pledging to lend their support for an hour or two.
Added Ebe: “We have been overwhelmed by the response so far, the record attempt has really captured people’s imagination. I hope that as many people as possible will come along on Sunday to show their support.”
The fun gets underway at the business centre in Howard Way at 11.00am and continues until 4.00 pm. Anyone who would like to support Ebe in advance of the event should telephone 07743 720034 or email

A Buckinghamshire-based martial arts expert is appealing for volunteers to take part in a gruelling world record bid that will also hope to raise thousands of pounds for a local charity.
Ebe Ghansha is hoping to lead the longest continuous Brazilian Ju-jitsu/ Mixed Martial Arts class and he needs to recruit would-be record breakers as well as people from the local Milton Keynes community willing to act as witnesses.
The record attempt will start on Sunday, May 8 at his new studio at the prestigious
Interchange Business Centre in Newport Pagnell where the owners of the site,
Bucks-Biz have already pledged their support.
Ebe, a former British Olympic Team member, explained that he wanted to attempt the record to raise money for the
Keech Hospice, a charity that helps provide end of life care for children in the Milton Keynes area.
“I also thought it was a good way to celebrate moving my
M1J14 Academy into the new studio at Interchange Business Centre,” he said.
“The existing record stands at just over 29 hours and a number of my students have already volunteered to go the full distance, but anyone is welcome to join in, either to go all the way or just to lend their support.
“At the same time they can raise sponsorship for taking part and help boost our donation to a very worthy cause.
“We also need members of the community to come forward and act as witnesses. They do not have to stay for the whole event; just agree to watch for a pre-arranged four hour period to ensure the bid is accepted by the Guinness Book of Records.”
In addition to sponsoring the record breaking attempt Buck-Biz will also be providing refreshments during the record event whilst opening up Interchange Business Centre for a family fun day.
Anyone who would like to support Ebe and the charity should telephone 07743 720034 or email

Businesses in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas are being offered the chance to find out how to improve their chances of securing funding from their bank at a special free event on March 31.
In recent weeks the UK’s biggest banks have committed to lending £76 billion to small and medium-sized firms in 2011, and commercial property specialists
Bucks-Biz has teamed up with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to help local firms secure their share of this vital funding.
To be held at the
MK:TWO Business Centre in Barton Road, Bletchley, the breakfast seminar is the first in a series of events organised by Bucks-Biz to help firms tackle pressing business issues.
Guest speakers at the event, RBS Corporate Director Steve Branney and his colleague, Relationship Manager Andy Chubb, will explain how banks assess the credit worthiness of a business and offer advice on how businesses can improve their chances of securing a loan or overdraft.
After registration at 7.15am and a free breakfast, the main presentation will be followed by an open questions and answers session. Steve and Andy will also be on hand to offer one-to-one consultations.
Bucks-Biz Director, Dominic Muscat, commented: “We are delighted that RBS have agreed to come and offer advice on this crucial issue affecting many firms and to talk about how developing a good relationship with a bank is vital to the long-term success of any business.
“The seminar will also provide an excellent opportunity for networking and we hope it will be the first of many similar events at our popular business centres,” he added.

A prestigious new business centre that promises a significant jobs boost in Newport Pagnell has welcomed its first clients.
School Business Services (SBS) has become one of the first companies to take advantage of the wide range of facilities offered by
Interchange Business Centre, the latest development by commercial property specialists
Bucks-Biz, based in Milton Keynes.
Supplying a range of services such as finance, management information systems and ICT to schools in the London area, SBS was attracted to the 3.5-acre development by its convenient location and the flexibility of the units available.
Samantha Cooper, SBS Office Manager, explained: “We had simply outgrown our old offices in Broughton and needed to move to new premises that could accommodate our expanding team.
“We were immediately impressed by the plans for the site and the fact that Bucks-Biz could design our new offices around our own individual needs.”
The company, which also has a head office in Poole, Dorset has now relocated around 10 of its 50 employees to the new offices at Interchange Business Centre, which has seen several other businesses move in since the start of 2011. Over the next few weeks it will also become home to a number of industrial workshops.
Dominic Muscat, a director of Bucks-Biz Business Centres, commented: “We have been really pleased with the interest shown in Interchange Business Centre and we are delighted to welcome our first tenants, especially such a forward-thinking and well-respected firm such as SBS.

A Milton Keynes based hairdressing salon is aiming to be a cut above the rest following its inclusion in The Good Salon Guide.
Based at
MK2: Business Centre,
White Label Hairdressing has just been awarded entry into the guide, which is an independent one for hairdressing quality standards in the UK and Ireland.
Michael Glossop, Partner at White Label Hairdressing, said: “Our clients have come to expect the best in service and style, so we are delighted to have achieved independent recognition of this salon’s standards.”
“Our success has been possible because we’ve been able to concentrate on delivering exceptional standards, even when we were recently faced with the potential stresses and disturbances that moving location can create.
“However,
Bucks-Biz, which owns MK2:Business Centre, was excellent in making the move to our current premises a hassle free experience. There were no delays and everything was ready for us when we moved in three months ago.”
Bucks-Biz offers a variety of commercial property solutions, from office and warehouse rentals, through to flexible workspaces and storage space.
Joe Muscat, Managing Director of Bucks-Biz, added: “We’re delighted that White Label Hairdressing has found working with us such a pleasure. We believe we go that extra mile, including monthly contracts with no long-term tie-ins.
“It’s because of this ethos of doing everything possible to help and the benefits it brings to both sides that we’re able to expand our property portfolio, the latest of which will be
Interchange Business Centre in Newport Pagnell.”
Any businesses interested in renting commercial property in Newport Pagnell, which is due to be completed in early 2011, or Milton Keynes should contact 01908 821000.

A Milton Keynes company has enjoyed five minutes of fame after featuring in a high-profile BBC science programme.
Based at the MK:TWO Business Centre,
BioChem Glass (Apparatus) Ltd recently hosted a visit from comedian Ben Miller who was investigating the measurement of temperature for an episode of Horizon, which was screened on BBC Two on Monday (January 10).
The highly specialised business is one of just a handful of scientific glassblowers in the UK and late last year the BBC spent a day filming Ben attempting to make his own thermometer with help from Will Fludgate, BioChem’s managing director.
“We were delighted to help Ben in his quest to understand what one degree in temperature actually means,” explained Will. “Although the filming was hard work, we had a really great time, and Ben had us laughing for most of the day.”
Whilst glassblowing is an ancient art, it remains at the cutting edge of modern science, as many precision instruments cannot be manufactured in any other way. BioChem has grown to become one of the leaders in the field and has enjoyed remarkable success since it moved onto MK:TWO, one of a number of sites managed by leading local commercial property specialists
Bucks-Biz Business Centres.
“Three years ago we needed to move premises and looking around there were not a lot of places that could provide the right combination of space, facilities and security,” Will continued.
“Fortunately I met with Joe Muscat as he was developing the
MK:TWO Business Centre and when I explained the unique nature of the business he was only too happy to help.”
Since then the business has gone from strength-to-strength before attracting the attention of the BBC.
Added Bucks-Biz managing director Joe Muscat: “We are delighted to have Will and BioChem operating from one of our business centres, they really do provide an excellent example of how highly-skilled manufacturers can thrive in a suitable environment. We were also pleased to see one of our units featured on prime-time television!”
